Weather of Arabia - Hisham Al-Haisa, Secretary-General of the Jordan Valley Authority, said on Wednesday that the amounts of evaporation at dam sites reach more than 20 million cubic meters annually, indicating the significant increase in evaporation rates as a result of climate change in Jordan.
Al-Haisa explained during his speech that:
“High amounts of evaporation are due to climate change and rising temperatures.”
Which prompted the Jordan Valley Authority to cooperate with international organizations to apply global technologies in Jordan to reduce evaporation rates. He pointed out that there are advanced technologies used globally that are used on the surface of dam lakes with the aim of reducing evaporation, such as placing solar cells to benefit from solar energy, and placing rubber balls on the surface of the lake. These balls are made of certain materials and are placed on the surface of the water to reduce the surface area exposed to direct sunlight, which reduces the amount of evaporation and maintains the quality of the water and the flow of oxygen in it.
