Arab Weather - An assistant professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Jordan, Alaa Al-Azzam, suggested that people will see 10 meteor showers every hour during the peak showers on the 17th and 18th of this month.

Al-Azzam said on Saturday that the meteors were called (Meteor Leonids) because they appear as if they came from the Leo region in the sky.

She added, who is also director general of the Astrogo Foundation for Astronomy and Space Sciences, that this phenomenon occurs every year when the planet passes through the remnants left by the comet "Temple Tuttle", which orbits around the sun one cycle every 33 years.

She stressed that people do not need to use equipment and do not need to have special skills while observing meteors, indicating that all they need is a cloudless sky, an area free of light pollution, and a lot of patience, as it is possible to see these meteors with the naked eye.

It is noteworthy that the sky this year witnessed many meteor showers, the most famous of which are the Perseids, Leonids and Geminis, due to the large number of meteors that can be seen in one hour during the peak period, for example, at the peak time of the Gemini showers, it is possible to see 100 meteors per hour, and it is one of the most Meteors are intense, with the peak of these showers occurring every year in mid-December.

From November 6 to November 30, the sky of Jordan is witnessing meteor showers
