ArabiaWeather.com - Khitam Amer - The Jordanian government recently signed a memorandum of understanding with Hungary that includes cooperation in the field of design, construction, operation, maintenance and investment of nuclear power reactors and research reactors.
This memorandum was signed in Amman by the head of the Jordanian Atomic Energy Commission, Khaled Touqan, and the Hungarian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Laszlo Sabo, on the sidelines of the second meeting of the joint Jordanian-Hungarian committee on economic cooperation between the two countries.
The memorandum includes aspects of cooperation to develop human resources and manage various projects, in addition to developing nuclear infrastructure, maintaining nuclear facilities, managing spent nuclear fuel and radioactive waste, mining activities and uranium processing.
Jordan is expected to produce electricity using nuclear energy with a capacity of 2,000 megawatts in 2023.
