The crescent of the Hijri month Safar

The crescent of Safar is the crescent that appears at the beginning of the month of Safar, which is the second month of the Hijri year. The beginning of the month of Safar is determined by sighting the new crescent after sunset on the twenty-ninth day of the month of Muharram, the previous month. If the crescent is seen, then the next day will be the first day of the month. If the crescent moon is not sighted, the month of Muharram will complete thirty days, and the following day will be the first day of the month of Safar.
