Arab Weather - Dr. Khaled Al-Zaaq said that the signs of winter begin with the last hours of the night during the Wasm season in November, and the effect of the cold intensifies to cover the entire night with the beginning of the Al-Mraba’aniya season in December.
Al-Zaqaq explained that the cold goes through stages, starting with its beginnings, then its peak, and finally its end. The effect of the cold begins at night during the Wasm season, and expands to include the entire night during the Al-Murabba’aniyah season. With the end of the Al-Murabba’aniyah and the beginning of the Al-Shibt season in late December and early January, the effect of the cold extends to the day as well. In February, with the onset of the Scorpio season, the cold begins to gradually recede. He added that our ancestors used to say:
"If the scorpions start to scorpion, you will see goodness approaching," indicating that the cold weather is about to end.
He explained that the main winter months are November, December and January, which is the period in which winter behaviours related to food, drink and clothing appear.
Winter signs begin with the onset of the late night of the Wasm season, and the cold covers the entire night with the onset of the first Al-Murabba’aniyah season in early December.
