Weather of Arabia - Dr. Khaled Al-Zaaq said that this week will witness the longest day and shortest night of the year ever, after the sun reached its furthest inclination towards the north, where it reached the Tropic of Cancer last Thursday.
Al-Zaaq explained that by the end of this week, the night will begin to increase its share of the day over the course of three months, until day and night are equal again. He pointed out that the Tropic of Cancer passes through several countries, including India, Saudi Arabia, China, the Sultanate of Oman, Egypt, Libya, and Algeria. He drew attention to the fact that Algeria is the only country in the world where the Tropic of Cancer intersects with the Greenwich Line.

Answer: The shortest day of the year occurs on the winter solstice, which usually falls on December 21, 22, or 23 of each year in the Northern Hemisphere. On this day, the Sun takes its shortest daily path in Earth's sky, resulting in the shortest daylight hours and longest nights in regions of the Northern Hemisphere.
The longest day occurs on the summer solstice, which falls on June 20 or 21 of each year in the Northern Hemisphere. On the vernal and autumn equinoxes, night and day are the same length, with each having about 12 hours.
