Saudi Arabia announces temporary suspension of Umrah for citizens and residents due to Corona

Weather of Arabia - The Saudi Ministry of Interior announced the temporary suspension of Umrah for citizens and residents in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in order to support the global efforts to stop the spread of the new Corona virus (19-COVID).

An official source in the Saudi Ministry of Interior stated that, out of the Kingdom’s keenness to support global efforts and international organizations, especially the World Health Organization, to stop, besiege and eliminate the spread of the new Corona virus (19-COVID), and as an extension of its decision to temporarily suspend entry for the purposes of Umrah and visit the Prophet’s Mosque Outside the Kingdom, and its decision to suspend entry of tourist visas for those coming from countries from which the spread of the new Corona virus poses a threat, and to suspend the use of Saudi nationals and citizens of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries to travel to and from the Queen, it was decided on the recommendation of the Committee on the follow-up developments of the situation, to stop temporarily Umrah citizens and residents in the Kingdom, that this decision is reviewed continuously and stop working when it is no longer the reasons for it.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, "SPA", this preventive decision comes among the precautionary measures that the Kingdom's government has consistently taken to limit the spread of the Corona virus (19-COVID) epidemic and prevent its access to the Two Holy Mosques, which witness a permanent and intense flow of human crowds, which makes it an issue Securing these crowds is of the utmost importance, as it comes in line with the precautionary measures taken by the Saudi authorities to prevent the spread of the virus in the Kingdom, and to complete the efforts that have been taken, aimed at providing the utmost protection for the safety of citizens and residents.

On the other hand, the Saudi Ministry of Health announced through its account on the social networking site "Twitter" that the Saudi citizen who was infected with the new Corona virus is stable and is being followed with interest.

The Ministry confirmed that all 70 people in contact with the patient were counted, 51 of whom were intact, and awaiting the result of the rest.
