و يرجع السبب إلى استمرار عبور موجات من الضغط المنخفض في طبقات الجو العليا مصحوبة بجبهات هوائية سطحية باردة نسبيا، و استمرار وجود كتلة هوائية رطبة نسبيا مع ارتفاع الحرارة سطحيا قبل قدوم المنخفضات، و يتوقع أن تبقى المناطق الوسطى و الشرقية و مناطق حفر الباطن و المناطق الغربية و الجنوبية الغربية هي الأكثر تأثرا، و يشمل ذلك العاصمة الرياض.
