Arab Weather - Weather experts at the Arab Weather Regional Center said that the latest outputs from the so-called computer simulation indicate that Iraq will be affected by a state of atmospheric instability that will gradually begin on Thursday and intensify at the end of the week and early next week to become strong. It is the result of the convergence of a cold air mass in the upper layers of the atmosphere, with a surface extension of the Red Sea depression. This convergence leads to the proliferation of cumulonimbus clouds and the fall of thunderstorms in several areas of the country.
In detail, during the daylight hours on Wednesday and during Thursday, a state of atmospheric instability will arise, as clouds gradually multiply at different heights. God willing, showers of rain will fall on scattered areas of Iraq, concentrated in the southern regions and extending towards the central regions, including the capital, Baghdad. The rain will sometimes be heavy in some geographical areas, accompanied by showers of hail and thunderstorms, which may lead to a rise in water levels in some areas and the occurrence of water pools.
According to the weather maps at the Arab Weather Regional Center, unstable weather conditions are expected to intensify in several areas on Friday, as showers of rain will fall, God willing, in many areas, but they will be concentrated in the center of the country. The rain will be heavy at times and accompanied by heavy showers of hail with strong thunderstorms and activity in surface wind speed. At that time, there is a risk of flash floods and rising water levels in some areas. It is also warned of the flow of valleys and ravines as a result of heavy rains on some northern mountainous heights, especially the northeastern ones, including Sulaymaniyah and its surroundings.
Weather experts at the Arab Weather Center are monitoring the continuation of the unstable weather conditions on Saturday, accompanied by showers in various areas. During the hours of Saturday/Sunday night and Sunday, the upper air depression is expected to pass and there will be a clear intensification of the intensity of the unstable conditions during the hours of Saturday/Sunday night and Sunday dawn and day, as cumulus clouds multiply with showers of heavy rain falling on various areas, concentrated in the northern regions, and sometimes very heavy and accompanied by strong thunderstorms and lightning, and showers of heavy accumulated hail. As a result, the risks of valleys flowing and the formation of flash floods increase, and dense fog forms over the northern regions as a result of the passage of low clouds touching the ground surface, and it takes the form of frozen fog over the northern peaks as a result of the low temperatures in those areas.
There is also a chance of snow showers over the high northern peaks, and it is not unlikely that the snow will accumulate.
- Stay away from valleys and torrents due to the high risk of flooding, especially after midnight on Saturday/Sunday.
- Beware of the risks of rising water levels, water pools and traffic jams.
- Take shelter inside buildings during thunderstorms.
And God knows best.
