Iraq | Siberian high altitude causes the formation of frost and freezing on a large scale, starting from Friday/Saturday night

Arab weather - the latest outputs of the numerical weather models processed by the Arab Regional Weather Center indicate that, as of Friday / Saturday night, Iraq was affected by the so-called Siberian air altitude and the flow of very cold winds accompanying this air altitude leads to a sharp drop in night temperatures, to be below zero Celsius Several degrees Celsius above the northern regions, and temperatures range between 1 and 9 degrees Celsius in the rest of the regions, including the capital, Baghdad.

Frost and freezing form in the northern regions, and it is not excluded that frost formation will extend to the western regions, coinciding with a significant rise in surface moisture levels and densely frozen fog forming over the northern regions.

Expanding frost and freezing on Saturday/Sunday night

A flow of more cold winds occurs on Friday/Saturday night, which leads to an additional sharp drop in night temperatures, to be several degrees below zero degrees Celsius over the northern regions, and the temperature drops below zero degrees also in the western regions, and temperatures range between 2 and 4 degrees Celsius in the rest of the regions, including the capital, Baghdad.

Frost and freezing form in many areas, especially the northern and western ones, coinciding with a significant increase in surface moisture levels, and freezing fog is formed over many parts of the northern regions.

Important recommendations from Arab weather in light of the expected weather conditions:

• Wear heavy clothes.
• Attention to the danger of an increase in the proportion of dust and dust raised in the atmosphere on Saturday.
• Attention to the danger of slipping on the roads when frost and freezing form in areas that experienced rain.
• Be aware of the danger of frost and freezing effect on crops, livestock and open water pipes.
