In detail, temperatures will rise significantly on Thursday to touch 40 degrees Celsius in the capital, Baghdad, amidst very hot and almost summery weather in general. However, starting from Friday and during Saturday, Iraq will begin to be affected by an autumn air mass that is considered the coldest in several months. Therefore, temperatures will drop significantly by 7-8 degrees Celsius compared to Thursday, and the weather will become moderate in the north and west of the country and relatively hot in the rest of the regions with an increase in the speed of the northwesterly winds, with the appearance of clouds in the north that may be accompanied by showers of rain on some mountainous heights.

Autumn air mass deepens next week, further drop in temperatures

In the same context, weather experts at the Arab Weather Center said that the latest indicators from the so-called computer simulation show that Iraq will be increasingly affected by the autumn air mass in the first half of next week, and thus temperatures will drop further to be 3-5 degrees Celsius below their average, and the weather will be moderate autumnal in most areas, and relatively hot in southern Iraq. Maximum temperatures will range from 28 to 30 degrees Celsius in the capital, Baghdad, while they will range from 23-25 degrees Celsius in the north and west of the country and will be in the early thirties in the south.

The coldest nights in months will prevail in the country next week

Night temperatures tend to drop further, and the weather will be pleasant in different parts of the country, but it will tend to be cold in the late night hours, dawn and early morning in different parts of Iraq, especially the north and west.

The minimum temperatures drop to 17-18 degrees Celsius in the capital, Baghdad, and are lower than that in the northern and western regions. Thus, the temperature differences between day and night become sharp and reach approximately 15-17 degrees Celsius, which increases the chances of catching a cold and seasonal diseases.
