Al-Ghawar.. the largest oil field in the world in Saudi Arabia

ArabiaWeather.com- The Ghawar field is classified as the largest in terms of oil reserves. The field is located in the eastern region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, specifically in Al-Ahsa Governorate. The word Ghawar means deep in the ground.

The Ghawar field was discovered in 1948, and production started from it after 3 years. The productivity of this field is estimated at about 60% of Saudi Arabia’s oil production, which is equivalent to about five million barrels per day. The area of this field, which is supervised by Saudi Aramco, is about 30 km. kilometers in width and 280 kilometers in length, and its reserves are estimated at no less than 70 billion barrels.

Saudi Aramco has produced more than 65 billion barrels from this field since production began from 1951 to 2010, and there are about 100 large oil and gas fields in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, but Ghawar is considered the largest of all.
