Weather of Arabia - Sinan Khalaf - Despite the heavy monsoon rains that the southwestern sector of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has witnessed since the beginning of August, the rest of the Kingdom’s regions are exposed to hot, dry weather, devoid of any precipitation.

Regarding this aspect, “A. Abdullah Al-Misnad” explained in a series of tweets on the (x) platform that the rainfall in the north, center and east of the Kingdom during the month of August is considered exceptional and unusual, and Al-Misnad recalled a number of rare cases in which some regions of the Kingdom witnessed rare rainfall. For rain, including:

• Riyadh: On August 12, 1977 AD, when Riyadh was hit by a thunderstorm during which heavy rain fell, amounting to an estimated 17.4 mm.
• Tabuk: On August 14, 1992, moderate rain fell, amounting to 11 mm.
• Al-Jawf: On August 28, 1994, moderate rain fell, amounting to 9 mm.
• Al-Ahsa: On August 26, 1977, heavy rain fell on Al-Ahsa, amounting to 19.4 mm, causing the valleys to flood.
• Hail: On August 25, 1995, light rain fell on Hail, amounting to 3 mm.

Al-Musnad concluded: He says: “In contrast, during 54 years, no rain fell on Dhahran in the month of August, according to historical climate records. This, and God knows best.”
