The Kingdom of Morocco: Starting construction of the world's largest solar power plant

ArabiaWeather.com - Sinan Khalaf - It seems that the United Arab Emirates will not maintain its position for long as the owner of the largest solar power station in the world. It announces the start of construction work to set up the largest solar power plant in the world in several stages.

The project, which is supervised by a number of international companies, aims to produce 500 megawatts by 2015, provided that the station's production capacity is raised to 2,000 megawatts by 2020.

The cost of the project was estimated at 820 million dollars, and the first phase of implementing the project requires 28 months. It is noteworthy that the Kingdom of Morocco aims to secure 42 percent of Morocco’s need for electricity from renewable energy sources by the year 2020, which will contribute to reducing the size of the financial burden resulting from the use of Energy sources in addition to the significant positive impact on the environment.
