Weather of Arabia - The director of Dukan Dam in the Iraqi Sulaymaniyah Governorate, Kojar Jamal, announced a decrease in the water level in the dam as a result of several reasons, including the lack of rain, as the decrease in the Dukan Dam reached more than 10 meters, which may have negative repercussions on the agricultural areas adjacent to it and perhaps Central and southern regions of Iraq.
The Dukan Dam is located on the Little Zab River within the Sulaymaniyah Governorate in northern Iraq, about 60 km northwest of the city of Sulaymaniyah and about 100 km from the city of Kirkuk.
Dukan dam is of a curved concrete type, with a radius of 120 meters and a summit length of 360 meters. Its construction began in 1954 and was completed in 1959. It is the first dam in Iraq.
