ArabiaWeather.com- A 100-meter-wide hole suddenly opened at a camp on a popular beach in Australia, swallowing vehicles, including a caravan trailer, last night.
The hole on Rainbow Beach, Queensland, began slowly opening from around midnight last night as sand fell several meters and disappeared into the sea.
Australian broadcaster ABC said a woman ran screaming through the camp, banging on caravans and shouting for people to get out and run.
A car, a truck and a caravan sank almost immediately, and the hole widened until it became three meters deep and 100 meters in diameter, according to the TV channel.
Police said more than 140 people in the camp had to flee from the widening hole.
The beach, 240km north of Brisbane, is a popular camping site and was the scene of a similar incident in 2011.
