Under observation: A tropical depression is monitored north-east of the Arabian Sea, with expectations that it will move westward in the coming days

From the Arab Weather Center - The latest satellite images and remote sensing systems indicate the presence of a deep low pressure system northeast of the Arabian Sea, near the Gulf of Gujarat. The surface wind speed around the center is estimated at about 30 knots (50-60 km/hour), and it is about 1,000 km away from the coast of the Sultanate (Masirah Island).

The computer simulation results at the Arab Weather Center indicate that the tropical depression will continue to move west-northwest towards the Sea of Oman during the coming days, causing heavy rains and strong winds in northwest India and southern Pakistan, leading to the formation of floods in those areas.

The results of computer simulations vary regarding the extent of its potential impact on the Arabian Peninsula, but the latest updates indicate expectations that the weather system will gradually weaken as it approaches the coasts of the Sultanate of Oman. This does not prevent many of the northern governorates of the Sultanate from being affected by some effects in the form of an influx of clouds at different altitudes and rainfall in some governorates.
