15 deaths were recorded in the floods in Italy, and the government warns of serious water pollution

Weather of Arabia - The number of victims of floods in Italy rose to 15 people yesterday, Wednesday, with a national day of mourning dedicated to the lives of these victims, and the Italian government warned of the dangers of pollution in the north-central region of the country after those devastating floods, according to the Italian newspaper "Al Messaggero".

The newspaper pointed out that the Italian authorities announced that the number of flood victims in the province of Emilia-Romagna (northeast) had risen to 15, with the latest discovery of the body of a man, yesterday, in the water in an area belonging to the province of Ravenna.

The authorities also announced a warning about flood water pollution, which endangers the health of Italians, as a number of experts expressed concern about the mixing of flood waters with sewage water or chemicals and agricultural and industrial waste that negatively affect the health of Italians.

The newspaper pointed out that the authorities have fears of the spread of tetanus, and therefore recommended obtaining the vaccine for this disease, and announced the opening of vaccination centers in the offices of Lugo, Faenza, Ravenna and Cervia.

She also announced her concerns about the dangers of mold and germs, as water and dampness can lead to the emergence of mold and germs that pose a threat to health, and therefore she tries to ventilate the areas of the houses affected by the floods.

The president of the Italian Society of Environmental Medicine (CIMA), Alessandro Mianni, added that the risk of infection is undoubtedly increased “(especially in the elderly and children) such as norovirus, hepatitis, rotavirus, infections caused by cryptosporidium and giardia parasites, bacterial infections with Campylobacter, Escherichia coli Salmonella, gastrointestinal diseases, dermatitis, conjunctivitis.

In addition, there is a danger of all kinds of viruses that are carried by mosquitoes and can be transmitted to humans because of the stagnant water in homes and along the streets, home to thousands of insects.
