Next Monday, Ramadan 12, is the first perpendicularity, as it will witness the occurrence of the phenomenon of the sun perpendicular to the Kaaba, which will occur at the time of the noon prayer in the Grand Mosque at 12:18 Mecca Al-Mukarramah time, i.e. 9:18 universal time, and at this moment the shadow of the Kaaba will completely disappear, and become the shadow of The meridian is zero (zenith angle of 90 degrees).

The phenomenon of sun perpendicularity occurs as a result of the location of the honorable Kaaba between the equator and the Tropic of Cancer. During the apparent movement of the sun across the dome of the sky, it becomes straight with the Kaaba during its transition from the equator to the Tropic of Cancer during the month of May, and when the sun returns south to the equator coming from the orbit of Cancer in the month of July annually

This phenomenon can be used to confirm and correct the direction of the qiblah accurately, as anyone who sees the sun at the moment of perpendicularity can determine the direction of the Kaaba, which is the opposite of the shadow .

It is worth noting that the phenomenon of the sun perpendicular to the Kaaba occurs twice a year, the first on May 27 and the second on July 15 .
