Commenting on the incident, the National Center for Transportation Safety in Saudi Arabia said:

“The Center received a report at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2024, that a Saudi Airlines plane had been involved in an accident after landing at Peshawar International Airport.” The statement added: “The flight crew was informed of heavy smoke rising from the plane’s rear wheel system, and as a result... A state of emergency was declared and the passengers and crew were evacuated via emergency sleds.

The center concluded its statement by saying:
