A short while ago, French news agency AFP quoted Turkish officials as saying that at least 15 people were killed in the preliminary toll of the strong earthquake that struck Turkey at dawn today, with a magnitude of 7.4 on the Richter scale.

The earthquake struck southern Turkey near the city of Gaziantep on Monday, according to the US Geological Survey, and the earthquake occurred at 4:17 local time, at a depth of about 17.9 km.

And the Turkish Anatolia News Agency stated that another earthquake measuring 6.5 degrees, centered in the state of Gaziantep, struck southern Turkey at 04:36 Turkish time.
