Arab Weather - The Times of India newspaper reported that the number of deaths resulting from the sudden heavy rains that fell on New Delhi last week had risen to 11, including four people who drowned in flooded tunnels. These rains led to disruptions in air traffic in the capital.
On June 28, New Delhi recorded its highest rainfall in decades, as its amount in one day exceeded the average rainfall in a month. Heavy rains led to the collapse of the roof of one of the three terminals at the capital’s main airport, resulting in the death of one person, the disruption of flights, and the flooding of tunnels with water. It caused severe traffic congestion and cut off electricity and water in parts of the city.
