Magnitude 7.0 Earthquake Hits Northern California, Tsunami Warnings Issued

The US Geological Survey confirmed on Thursday that a 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Northern California.

The US Geological Survey said the California earthquake occurred about 40 miles west of the town of Petrolia, according to CNN.

The US Geological Survey said a tsunami warning was in effect for parts of the California and Oregon coasts.
