Tafila dams exceed their capacity of water

ArabiaWeaher.com- Excavations and earthen dams in Tafila Governorate have exceeded their capacity of rain water , as the quantities of water stored in the dams of the southern governorate amounted to about 400 thousand cubic liters, while their absorptive capacity is estimated at about 350 thousand cubic meters, according to the Jordan News Agency - Petra.

Today, Wednesday, the Director of Tafila Agriculture, Eng. Jamal Al-Oran, said that the quantities stored in excavations and earthen dams in the eastern and southern regions of Tafila Governorate amounted to 400,000 cubic meters of water, exceeding the estimated capacity of about 350,000 cubic meters of water.

According to Al-Auran, the surplus water reserve will contribute to replenishing the groundwater reserve and providing additional quantities of water for watering livestock and irrigating rain-fed trees, natural and artificial pastures, and forest forests.

The recent rainfall also caused damage in some agricultural areas, mainly soil erosion and the breaking of fruit and forest trees.
