The Sultanate of Oman will host Climate Week next February

Weather of Arabia - The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Environment Agency, will host Climate Week for the first time during the period from 24 to 27 February 2025 AD, with the aim of uniting global efforts in supporting climate action and focusing on the Sultanate’s commitment to an emissions-free future.

This event is of great importance in light of the increasing global focus on mitigating climate change and promoting renewable energy to combat global warming. The week covers a series of events aimed at achieving results consistent with the 1.5°C target in 2025, agreed at the Climate Conference (COP29). It also focuses on cooperation between governments and different sectors to reduce climate impact.

His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Ali Al Amri, Chairman of the Environment Agency, stressed the necessity of urgent climate action, expanding investments in the face of climate change, and the importance of taking urgent measures in financing, adapting to climate impacts, reducing emissions, phasing out coal, setting a price on carbon, and ensuring Smooth transition to renewable energy to protect the environment for future generations.

Key Climate Week themes

Key Climate Week themes include mitigating climate change, adapting to its impacts, financing climate change investments, carbon markets, climate technologies, loss and damage, and social inclusion.

Oman is working to address climate change with a strong focus on the transition to renewable energy and an action plan to expand solutions to achieve decarbonisation. Oman Vision 2040 and its national climate change adaptation and mitigation strategy emphasize the necessity of resilient infrastructure.

Oman Climate Week provides a platform for global industrial leaders, policymakers and innovators to showcase progress, collaborate, exchange ideas on climate change mitigation and explore opportunities in the Sultanate of Oman and the MENA region.
