ArabiaWeather.com - The Canadian company Carbon Engineering intends to convert carbon dioxide into fuel, to reduce the effects of climate change in the world.

The company revealed an experimental plant capable of extracting carbon dioxide from the atmosphere using huge fans, and introducing it in a series of chemical processes to produce granules that can be used to make fuel, or simply kept in the ground.

The "carbon engineering" plant deals with emissions directly into the air, unlike current mechanisms that capture carbon from stacks such as those in coal-fired power plants, according to the company's CEO, Adrian Corliss, who explained that it is now possible to capture carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Storing and using it with hydrogen in the production of a zero-emissions fuel, where its importance lies in the possibility of adapting it for use in existing systems, starting from petrol pumps to cars and planes.

The company's president, Adrian Corliss, says they may be able to sell synthetic fuels in 2018, which he says, like fossil fuels, will provide an energy source concentrated enough to power aircraft and ground transportation.

For his part , a professor of sustainable energy at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver believes that this technology is promising for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and climate change.
