Weather of Arabia - Satellite images showed a clear difference in vegetation cover in northern and central Jordan between February 2023 and February 2024, and also showed a difference in the amounts of snow on Mount Ereh, the Lebanon Mountains, and the Suwayda Mountains.
Going back a little to the previous rainy season, specifically February 2023, the northern and central regions witnessed during the winter quadrant period a significant weakness in the performance of the rainy season and a severe decrease in rainfall amounts, as the rain totals were much less than the general totals that were supposed to be achieved for that period, and that Due to the unusual behavior of the depressions that crossed Egyptian territory and quickly headed to northern Saudi Arabia, causing rains to concentrate mainly on the southern regions, this explains the reason for the significant weakness in the proportion of vegetation in the north and center of the Kingdom for the same period last year.
But, thank God, since the beginning of this year’s rainy season, the Kingdom has been affected by several weather events and an active and fertile weather period, which reached its peak during the Murabbaniyeh period, bringing very abundant amounts of rain to both the northern and central regions. This year, Murabbaniyeh was distinguished by rainfall totals that exceeded the general totals that were supposed to be achieved. In the north and center of the Kingdom (unlike last year), coinciding with abundant amounts of rain and a large number of weather events, they were separated by periods of relative warmth in the atmosphere and brightness of the sun’s rays, which contributed to the emergence of vast areas of grasses that now cover several areas of the north and center. The Kingdom as shown in satellite images, praise be to God.
