An Egyptian pilot faces severe weather conditions and makes an exceptional landing at Heathrow Airport in London

Weather of Arabia - International and local media and social media circulated during the past hours a video clip that monitors the professionalism and high efficiency of the pilot of an EgyptAir plane during landing at Heathrow Airport amid compelling weather conditions that forced many pilots to cancel landing at the same airport and go to alternative airports.

The pilot is Walid Murad, the commander of EgyptAir flight MS777 of the Boeing B787-9 Dreamliner, which headed from Cairo Airport to Heathrow Airport in London on Saturday afternoon, and was able to land the plane steadily despite an unprecedented weather phenomenon that Britain witnessed during the past hours due to its exposure to Storm "Eunice", according to EgyptAir confirmed in an official statement.

The pilot, Walid Murad, said in statements to "Sky News Arabia" that he was aware of the nature of the weather conditions at Heathrow Airport before taking off from Cairo, stressing that he did not think about changing the flight path to the alternate airport prepared in advance except before attempting to land at Heathrow Airport.

He explained that changing the flight path has rules and assets and is not a random decision, and it would have taken place only in the event that he failed to land at Heathrow Airport, but the landing took place safely.

He pointed out that he informed the passengers of the plane before landing the reality of the situation at Heathrow Airport and that many planes belonging to other companies canceled their landing and headed to the alternative airport, but he will try to land and it happened that the landing was done safely.

He stressed that he and his colleagues at EgyptAir are professionally trained in such circumstances, noting that he is now 62 years old and has been working for EgyptAir for nearly 40 years and has great experience, but at the same time he stressed that his youngest colleague in EgyptAir would have done what he did given Professional training for him and his colleagues on these matters.

Murad said that he was educated in the Egyptian Air Force before joining EgyptAir, and he is currently training new pilots. He has also reached the position of Vice President of EgyptAir Air Cargo Company. He is also currently the President of the Pilots Association and has held the position of President of the Aviation Sports Club for 14 years, explaining that his son is also a pilot. Murad stressed that his great happiness with what he did was not for himself, but because he contributed to a great publicity for EgyptAir and the efficiency of its pilots worldwide.

It is noteworthy that Amr Aboul-Enein, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Holding Company for EgyptAir issued an official statement on the company in which he praised what pilot Walid Murad had done, stressing that "this situation is not new to the sons of the Egyptian National Company, as all EgyptAir pilots are characterized by high efficiency and professionalism in dealing with various emergency situations and circumstances.

Abul-Enein said that EgyptAir pilots "are globally recognized for their efficiency and training at the highest level, especially in the face of bad weather conditions during takeoff and landing."
