Weather of Arabia - A LATAM Airlines plane in Paraguay was severely damaged after flying in a hailstorm that forced it to make an emergency landing.

Paraguay's LATAM Airlines flight LA1325 was grounded in severe weather while traveling to the capital, Asuncion, from Santiago de Chile late on Wednesday.

Horrific footage shows the plane shaking violently while flashes of lightning are heard outside and the passengers are terrified inside. No one was hurt, but the plane was badly damaged and the storm smashed the nose of the plane.

Chile's Directorate General of Civil Aeronautics said the plane had made an emergency landing "due to the harsh and unpredictable weather conditions".

The damaged plane, carrying 48 passengers, was diverted to Foz do Iguaçu/Cataratas International Airport in Brazil.

Pictures taken after the plane landed showed a large hole in the nose of an Airbus A320-200, and a shattered windshield.
