By 160 technicians, the Kaaba cover was replaced at dawn today

Weather of Arabia - As is customary at this time of each year, the Kaaba's covering is changed and its old covering is replaced with a new one at dawn on the day of Arafah 12/9/1440.

The cladding was replaced by 160 technicians and craftsmen, under the supervision and follow-up of the General President for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, Sheikh Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais.

Covering the Kaaba 1440/2019:

After the pilgrims went to Arafat, the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque followed up and supervised the change of the Kaaba’s covering, and the replacement of the old covering with a new one consisting of four sides and a door curtain.

And in the report of the Saudi Press Agency, “SPA”, the Undersecretary of the General President for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque, Ahmed Al-Mansouri, stated that on Friday/Saturday night, the old covering of the Kaaba was removed, and the new one, consisting of four sides separated and the door curtain, was lifted, as each side of the Kaaba was lifted. The four sides separately to the top of the Holy Kaaba in preparation for its spreading on the old side, and the side was fixed from the top by tying it and dropping the other end of the side, after the ropes of the old side were loosened, by moving the new side up and down in a permanent movement, after which the old side fell from the bottom and remained The new side, and the process was repeated four times for each side until the dress was completed, then the belt was weighed on a straight line on the four sides by sewing it.

He added: "This process started first from the Al-Hatim side, due to the presence of the gutter, which has its own hole at the top of the garment, and after all sides were fixed, the pillars were fixed by sewing them from the top of the garment to the bottom, and after completing that, the curtain was placed that needed time and mastery in the work." And that was by making an opening estimated at the size of the curtain in the black cloth, which is estimated at about 3.30 meters in width until the end of the dress, and then three holes were made in the black cloth to install the curtain from under the cloth, and finally the ends were fixed by sewing them into the black cloth on the dress.

Sheikh Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais said in a speech on this occasion: "We thank God for providing our blessed country with an honest and sincere leadership that has made the service of the Holy Kaaba and the Two Holy Mosques and those who visit them, and serving the holy sites one of its first concerns."

The phrases written in inscriptions on the new cladding:

• Oh God, oh God.
• There is no God but Allah, Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.
• Hallelujah and praise.
• Glory be to God Almighty.
• O Dayan, O Manan.

Where these phrases are repeated on all the cloths of the Kiswa.

Information about the Kiswa of the Kaaba:

• The Kaaba’s covering belt was cut into 16 pieces, in addition to 6 pieces and 12 lamps below the belt, four Samadiyat and five “God is Great” lamps on the Black Stone, along with the outer curtain of the door of the Kaaba.
• The Kiswa uses approximately 670 kg of raw silk which is dyed black, 120 kg of gold wire, and 100 kg of silver wire.
