ArabiaWeather.com - A group of scientists explained that the planet Earth had escaped from an imminent catastrophe two weeks ago, which almost overthrew communications systems and electrical equipment on continental levels, after sudden electromagnetic impulses were released from the sun as a result of solar activity.
Electromagnetic impulses are huge waves of energy that can come from two sources, one of which comes from a severe solar flare, or from a nuclear explosion at high altitude, and it is capable of permanently infecting communication and electricity systems on Earth.
Scientists have made it clear that the intense solar flare passed very close to Earth's orbit, and that our planet barely escaped its effects.
This type of space accident is not uncommon, as a large magnetic impulse hit the Earth in 1989, destroying the electricity transmission system in Quebec City, Canada.
And a study on solar activity during the past year had indicated that the Earth might be on a date with a solar storm before the year 2020, with a chance of occurrence of 12%, according to their calculations.
