`Poisonous` volcano gases are forcing some Icelanders to stay indoors

ArabiaWeather.com - Nasser Haddad - There does not seem to be a glimmer of hope about the end of the "Bardarbanga" volcano crisis in Iceland, as gases and lava have been emitted for three months.

The lava covered nearly 70 square kilometers - exceeding the area of American Manhattan -, and 200 earthquakes were recorded during the last 3 days (8-10 November), the strongest of which was on the evening of 9 November; It measured 5.2 on the Richter scale.

Returning to the archives, we find that the Laki volcano erupted in 1783 and continued to erupt for a period of 7-8 months, causing the expansion of lava over an area estimated at 600 square kilometers and the death of a quarter of the population of Iceland, and that is not from the direct impact of the volcano, but rather from the famine that cause it.
