Weather of Arabia - This year (2023) coincides with the eighth anniversary of the blizzard Huda, which began affecting the Kingdom on Wednesday 1-7-2015 AD, as Jordanians remember every year the scene of snow that covered many regions of the Kingdom, as snow began to fall since the dawn hours of Wednesday On the mountain heights, it was followed by a record snow wave the next afternoon.
The snow storm Huda caused the closure of roads, ministries and government departments were suspended for several days, and the accumulation of snow led to the closure of the main road leading to Queen Alia International Airport in the capital, Amman. Snow also closed the entire northern region of Amman, and all roads were closed in Balqa Governorate, northwest of the capital. This was the case in most cities in the south of the Kingdom.
Cold air flowed from northern and central Europe towards the eastern Mediterranean, resulting in the formation of an air depression over Greece. This depression deepened the next day and moved towards the east and became concentrated between the island of Cyprus and the Greek island of Crete. A slight rise in temperatures, and on Monday the weather was between sunny to partly cloudy.
However, with the continued flow of cold air towards the east, the depression deepened and concentrated north of the island of Cyprus, with lower atmospheric pressure values than it was, and therefore the air front accompanying this depression approached towards the Kingdom, so the weather turned on Tuesday to be stormy with an intensification of dusty winds.
And then the kingdom began to be affected by the snow storm associated with a very cold and humid polar air mass coming from Europe, and since Tuesday evening the kingdom witnessed a state of atmospheric instability and strong winds, and snow began falling since the dawn hours of Wednesday on the mountain heights, followed by a record ice wave the next afternoon.

On Wednesday, the Kingdom was affected by stormy weather due to the strong winds, whose speed had reached more than 100 km/h, and resulted in raised dust and sand and some sandstorms. Indeed, the snow fell heavily, and began to accumulate over the mountainous heights, which are more than 700 meters above sea level, especially in the north of the Kingdom, then the snowfall and accumulation included the central regions, which are 600 meters above sea level, and at night the weather was severely cold and the temperatures dropped significantly large until it reached zero and below zero percentile in many regions,
Thursday 8-1-2015 AD
Extremely cold weather prevailed with a significant decrease in temperatures, and strong winds exceeding 80 km/h continued in most regions, and the Kingdom remained affected by snowfall, but in the form of showers over mountain heights that are more than 850 meters above sea level, and snow continued to fall Sometimes abundantly in the Al-Sharah Mountains, and at night the snowfall renews over most of the heights of more than 600 meters.
Friday 9-1-2015 AD
The flow of very cold polar winds from Turkey increased to the region, and cold weather prevailed in most areas, and temperatures dropped unusually at night, as they fell below (-5) degrees Celsius in Amman and Jordanian cities, and snowfall renewed in many areas.
