Arabia Weather - Residents of the Kanto region in central Japan, which includes the capital, Tokyo, witnessed a unique phenomenon on Monday morning, as a bright meteor resembling a fireball appeared. Japanese channel NHK reported that circulating footage reveals the observation of this phenomenon known as the “fireball,” where a ball of light appears flying in the dawn sky for a few seconds before disappearing.

It quoted Fuji Daiichi, a supervisor specializing in astronomy at the Hiratsuka City Museum near Tokyo, that the cameras in his home detected the phenomenon before seven in the morning.

Fujii stated that the strength of the brightness indicates that the diameter of the meteorite reaches several tens of centimetres, which is rare. He added that reports of hearing a sound also indicate the possibility that the meteorite collided with the surface of the Earth.
