Costa Rica seeks to rely entirely on renewable energy by 2021

ArabiaWeather.com - Khitam Amer - The country of Costa Rica, located in Central America, is currently converting animal waste into bioenergy, especially as it is one of the countries in the world seeking to rely entirely on renewable energy and aims to rely entirely on these sources in the production of electricity by 2021.

It is known that animal waste decomposes slowly, so Costa Rica has integrated the "El Erio" and "Del Valle" slaughterhouses, located about ten kilometers from the capital, San José, to produce energy through a device that converts livestock waste into biogas and bioenergy. The device consists of a large basin with a capacity of 8,000 cubic meters and allows the natural process to be accelerated and the naturally emitted methane gas trapped.

And according to what Costa Rica announced about its dependence on renewable energy sources in the first half of last year, it amounted to 98.55%. Costa Rica currently produces 2.2 megawatts of energy, and this amount is expected to rise to nearly 4 megawatts when the biogas plant begins operating on a larger and more efficient scale.
