After traveling from your home country to Indonesia, which is often on the capital, Jakarta, travel to Sorong, which is the largest city in West Papua Province, and is located in the far west of the island of New Guinea. Here, the nearest major airport to Raja Ampat is Domini Edward Osok Airport.
A flight from Jakarta to Sorong takes 4 hours and 5 minutes, and there are some flights that pass through the city of Makassar. In addition to direct daily flights from Jakarta, other flights are available from Manado, Surabaya or Jayapura to Sorong.
The airlines that serve the airport are the state company Garuda Indonesia, low-cost airline Lion Air, and other domestic companies such as Nam Air and Batik Air.
After arriving in Sorong, take a taxi to the port which only takes about 15 minutes, then take one of the sea ferries to Waisai, which is located on Waigeo Island, the fast ferry takes two hours.
When you reach Waisai, which is the last stop before heading to your accommodation, you will need to arrange another ride with a taxi boat to one of the hotels and resorts in Raja Ampat, but don't worry, most hotels will arrange your transfers in advance.
