Arab Weather - Satellite images at the Arab Weather Center show the eye of Hurricane Rafael, which may appear small in the images, but remote measurement systems show that its area is enormous, as its area exceeds the area of 10 countries around the world, including an Arab country, and is larger than the area of 4 Arab capitals.
The hurricane's eye area is estimated at 2,827.43 square kilometers, making it larger than the area of 12 small countries, including Luxembourg, Comoros, Cape Verde, Samoa, Sao Tome and Principe, Maldives, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Marshall Islands, Liechtenstein, San Marino, in addition to Bahrain and Qatar from the Arab countries.
When the eye of the hurricane was projected onto the Arab capitals, it became clear that their area exceeded the area of 4 capitals, namely Beirut, Damascus, Amman, and Doha, which reflects the intensity and strength of the hurricane.
The eye of a hurricane, known as the calmest part of a hurricane, is relatively calm in the center, while the eyewall is the most destructive part of the hurricane. The eyewall fools people into thinking the weather is getting better and the sun is out, but the violent eyewall returns to bring heavy rain and strong winds that destroy everything in its path.
According to the National Hurricane Center, Hurricane Rafael continues to bring heavy rains to western Cuba, with flash flooding and mudslides possible in highlands. The hurricane is expected to move slowly over the southern Gulf of Mexico this week and early next week.
And God knows best.
