Arab Weather - Firefighting teams in California continued their efforts to control a huge fire that broke out in the north of the state four days ago, and its intensity increased on Sunday due to strong winds and high temperatures, according to what the authorities announced.
The state's Cal Fire agency reported that the Park Fire, which has become one of the largest fires recorded in the history of the western American state, had, as of Sunday evening, consumed more than 144,500 hectares of green space.
The agency stated that the "Park Fire", which broke out near the town of Chico, has become the seventh most destructive fire in the state's history, and although the fire brigades made some progress on Saturday, taking advantage of the decline in wind strength and lower temperatures, they were able to control the fire by 12%, but weather conditions returned in favor of the fire on Sunday , as temperatures rose and winds intensified.

The fire has so far caused the evacuation of 4,200 people from Butte province, according to Agence France-Presse. Firefighting teams are fighting the fire in a mountainous area about 145 kilometers from Sacramento, the state capital, which makes their mission more difficult.
The authorities mobilized 4,000 firefighters, helicopters, planes, and bulldozers to combat the fire, which has not yet caused any human casualties, but has damaged 67 buildings.
The town of Chico is located about 20 kilometers west of the town of Paradise, which was destroyed by a wildfire in 2018, killing 85 people, and was the deadliest in California history. The winds carried the smoke from the Park Fire to neighboring states.
Police arrested a 42-year-old man on Thursday on suspicion of starting the fire by throwing a burning car into a ravine.
