Arab Weather - California has recently witnessed the outbreak of severe fires on a large scale, in light of the lack of rain, dry grass and soil, and the activity of eastern winds, which contributed to the expansion of the fires, which are still ongoing until now. However, computer modeling outputs indicate that the state is affected by a low air pressure accompanied by polar winds that bring rain and snow to the same areas that are witnessing recent fires.
The results of the numerical models at the Arab Weather Regional Center indicate the formation of a low pressure system over the waters of the middle of the ocean, moving towards the state of California and gaining sufficient moisture, coinciding with the flow of very cold polar winds towards the center of the low pressure system, where large areas of the state are expected to witness rainfall accompanied by strong winds and high waves, and snow is expected to fall in many areas of the state, including parts of those that have recently witnessed the outbreak of fires.
The low pressure and rain are expected to cause the soil to become saturated with water, and thus the risk of fires will decrease. The rain will contribute to extinguishing the existing fires at this time, God willing. The fire outbreak index shows a decrease in the possibility of fires occurring in the coming days, especially on Sunday and Monday.
At the same time, the effects of the low pressure system may be negative for areas that will not witness rainfall, as dry winds may cause fires to spread in areas far from rain, while areas that witness rainfall become out of range of fires.
And God knows best.
