و تأتي موجة الغبار هذه ضمن رياح موسمية تؤثر على المنطقة تُسمى برياح البوارح، و يتوقع أن يستمر تأثر المنطقة بهذه الرياح خلال الايام القادمة.

 

وتهب رياح البوارح نتيجة لنشاط الرياح الشمالية الى الشمالية الغربية المثيرة للغبار والعواصف الرملية بسبب اختلاف الضغط الجوي بين شرق الجزيرة العربية وشمال غربها، حيث تندفع الرياح الشمالية الغربية والغربية من المناطق الاكثر ضغطا وبرودة الى المناطق الاقل ضغطا، تؤدي هذه الرياح الى اثارة الغبار وانخفاض مدى الرؤية الافقية بشكل كبيرعلى بعض المناطق.
