Weather of Arabia - The Ajloun Agriculture Directorate estimated the volume of olive harvest production so far at 3,500 tons, of which 770 tons of oil were extracted since the start of the season and the opening of the press about a month ago.

A source in the directorate indicated that the governorate has recorded - so far - the highest production rate among the governorates, according to preliminary estimates, and pointed out that these numbers are "capable of increasing during the coming period until the end of the season."

The directorate indicated that it carried out inspection tours of the olive presses, which number in Ajloun Governorate, 14, during which random samples were taken to ensure that the olive oil was not tampered with.

She indicated that the prices ranged between 65-75 dinars per tin, and some of them reached 80 dinars, and the Syndicate of Olive Press Owners expected that the price of a tin of olive oil with high quality specifications would reach 90 dinars.

The areas planted with olive trees are estimated at 80,000 dunams, including 860,000 olive trees, which constitute 50% of the fruitful trees in Ajloun.

The directorate explained that 80% of the olive varieties in Ajloun are “My Country is Suri”, which is adapted to the environment of the region, and is characterized by its high production of oil in quantity and quality.

The Syndicate of Olive Presses Owners indicated that 40% of the olive season has been harvested and 60% of farmers are waiting for the "first winter", believing that it has an impact on the quality and quantity of the extracted oil.

She suggested the production of about 160 thousand tons of olive fruits, 40 thousand tons of which go to pickles (olive olives prepared for eating) and the rest is pressed.

According to the union's estimates, there are about 20 million olive trees in the Kingdom; There are 138 olive presses in the Kingdom that provide about 1,000 direct job opportunities and many indirect job opportunities such as maintenance and others.
