The Perseid meteor is one of the most prominent annual meteor showers, and is caused by the Earth passing through debris left behind by Comet Swift-Tuttle. This shower is characterized by being abundant and fun to watch, as a large number of meteors can be seen in one hour at its peak.
This shower was called “Perseids” because the meteors appear to radiate from the constellation Perseus (Perseus) in the sky, which is the point from which the meteors originate.
