ArabiaWeather - Chinese archaeologists found 10,000 government wooden boards dating back more than 1,700 years in Hunan Province in central China. These ancient wooden tablets were government documents during the Three Kingdoms period, which extended from 220 to 280 AD. This archaeological find is an important source for understanding the development and governance of Hunan Province in that distant time period.
According to what was reported in the "Xinghua" agency, scientists explained that the discovered relics were found about 13 kilometers from Linwu Prefecture, inside two ancient wells. The find consists of an area that includes government offices, residential areas, an industrial area and a burial site.
The researchers explained that tablets, which were usually made of wood or bamboo, were a major means of writing in ancient Chinese civilization before the invention and spread of paper.
According to Chen Bin, a scientist with the Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, who led the excavation, the unearthed tablets showed official records of Linwu County, dealing with administrative division, taxation, household registration, and agriculture and mining issues. Chen Bin also explained that this discovery came after the start of excavations in the ancient city of Dutu in 2016.
He pointed out that the government office area was a square with a side length of 100 meters, surrounded by a moat, while the residential area was about 300 meters away. Archaeologists found about 400 tombs in the area.
Chinese civilization arose in many centers of the region through the villages of the Yellow and Yangtze Rivers in the Neolithic Ages, and the Yellow Sea is considered the cradle of Chinese civilization. China is one of the oldest civilizations in the world.
The name "China" goes back to the Persian word "chin" (qin), which is also the origin of modern European words for the Chinese state. The introduction of this word into Europe is attributed to the Venetian traveler Marco Polo. In contrast, the origin of the Persian word comes from the Sanskrit word "chinas" (चीन), and this was the word used to refer to China in India since about the year 150.
China has many fascinating historical monuments and diverse landscapes, from rivers, mountains and deserts to stunning beaches and beautiful islands. This country is considered one of the most important tourist destinations that attract tourists with its exciting museums and charming landscapes.
