The museum specializes in exhibiting the holdings of the Two Holy Mosques, as it is a unique exhibition in the world, the creation of which was to highlight the cultural and historical appearance of the Two Holy Mosques. The exhibition contains seven halls displaying rare archaeological collections of its kind, and many old and modern photographs of the Two Holy Mosques, in addition to a collection of rare manuscripts and Korans.
It is a private museum established by Majdou Al-Ghamdi and his family, and the museum is located in the Aziziyah neighborhood. It consists of ten rooms and halls that vary in size, the museum's holdings are displayed inside the rooms and in the corridors between them, so that each hall specializes in displaying a specific part of the heritage that Al-Ghamdi and his family bought and preserved.
The mosque is a witness to the first pledge of allegiance in Islam, and it was built in the era of the Abbasid Caliph Abu Ja`far al-Mansur at the site where the pledge of allegiance took place to perpetuate the incident.
