From the Arab Weather Center - The latest computer simulation results of the movement of air masses indicate expectations that large parts of the Arabian Peninsula will be increasingly affected by a cold wave, causing temperatures to drop further to approach zero degrees Celsius in many areas, God willing.
God willing, it is expected that a trough of dry low pressure will cross the region’s atmosphere, accompanied by an extremely cold air mass, so that temperatures will drop below their usual rates by more than 5-7 degrees Celsius, including most regions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, the Emirates, and the Sultanate of Oman, and colder than usual weather will prevail.
Despite the depth of the low pressure system in the upper layers of the atmosphere, it is not accompanied by significant rainfall, except for some light rain on the coasts of Oman and the Emirates for a short period, due to the lack of a surface response to this atmospheric trough in light of the control of the Siberian high pressure system.
The Siberian high extends with very high values towards the region, especially the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where the impact of the cold wave is severe, as temperatures drop to nearly zero degrees Celsius in the regions of the northern borders, Al-Jawf, Hail, Al-Qassim, northern Riyadh, and the northeastern region, with very cold weather at night.
