Arab Weather - The latest satellite images from the Arab Weather Regional Center show the presence of a deep air depression that has separated from the general jet stream circulation and is surrounded by strong air highs, covering a huge area of countries overlooking the central Mediterranean Sea, including southern Europe and North Africa, and is surrounded by large amounts of dense clouds.
This weather system results in heavy rainfall in large quantities in southern Europe, which results in the formation of torrents and floods, especially in Greece and southern Turkey. Due to the severe cooling accompanying the air mass accompanying the low pressure system, snow falls heavily on many European highlands, including the highlands of Italy and the Balkan countries, in addition to the high mountainous highlands in southern Turkey. The snow accumulates and impedes movement.
Due to the depression deepening in its center, it is accompanied by strong winds blowing in the Mediterranean Sea, with gusts reaching speeds of about 100 km/hour. The waves are very turbulent at sea, with the wave height, especially off the eastern Libyan coast, reaching about 5 meters. It is advised not to approach the coasts due to the severe turbulence of the waves.
The effects of the low pressure system in northern Libya include strong winds, cloud cover, heavy rains sometimes accompanied by thunderstorms, and hail of varying sizes, which increases the risk of flooding, valleys and ravines flowing, and flooding in low-lying areas.
The absence of classified depressions in Jordan reflects the severe shortage of rainfall so far
This is met by the effect of Egypt with dry air currents in most layers of the atmosphere, and thus the effects of the low pressure system on Egypt are in the form of active and dry southwesterly winds that cause sand to be stirred up in many areas and lead to a noticeable decrease in horizontal visibility, especially in the northwestern regions, and temperatures will drop in various regions, God willing.
While the central Mediterranean regions are exposed to strong air depressions, heavy rains and snowfall, the southern Levant, including Jordan, continues to be affected by the dry part of the polar jet stream, with the dominance of a strong air high that imposes more stable weather and temperatures are several degrees Celsius higher than their average.
God knows best.
