Arab Weather - A giant 8.5-meter-tall doll has sparked controversy and fear among residents of the city of Rochdale in the United Kingdom. The doll arrived in the city center as part of a project aimed at encouraging children to talk about climate change, but reactions from local residents were mixed.
The city council welcomed the doll "Lily" through a post on its official account on the "X" platform (formerly Twitter), indicating that she will be a guest of honor at the "Wild Wonders" environmental arts festival. Despite this official welcome, some residents expressed their fear, describing the doll as "very scary."
Some residents expressed their dismay at the doll's appearance, with one describing it as "scary" and another comparing it to the scary character "Chucky" from the popular horror series. Despite these negative comments, the city council said that children enjoyed interacting with the doll and that their response was wonderful.
Criticism was not limited to the doll's appearance alone, as some questioned the value of using public funds to build this giant doll, given that some children suffer from poverty and hunger. However, the city council explained that the funding came from the Arts Council of England and the local charity "Garfield Weston".
