ArabiaWeather.com- Fayez Al-Hindi, a Palestinian resident of the Gaza Strip, has developed a solar water desalination system, in an attempt to address the lack of energy supplies; As a result of the Israeli blockade imposed on Gaza.
The "Hindi", who lives in the Khan Yunis area, uses solar panels, which were distributed on the roof of the house to purify and distill drinking water.
The availability of the sun throughout the year and the lack of energy supplies prompted the Indian to devise a water purification system through distillation to produce drinking water. This system provides clean water through the stages of distillation, evaporation and desalination, according to "Al Jazeera Mubasher".
An official at the analysis laboratories in Khan Yunis, Muhammad Abu Shammala, considered that the system invented by al-Hindi was unique in using solar energy to purify water.
He pointed out that the tests conducted on the water resulting from the desalination of this system revealed that the amount of dissolved salts in the water did not exceed 12 milligrams per liter.
Abu Shammala indicated that the high percentage of drinking water pollution in Gaza prompted citizens to search for alternatives, and it was the only available alternative, noting that about 95% of the artesian wells in the Strip have become polluted and unfit for drinking.
