Arab Weather - The latest outputs of weather maps and computer simulations in "Arab Weather", especially those concerned with monitoring the movement of air masses, indicate that a polar air mass will rush towards the eastern Mediterranean basin and the Levant starting from Sunday and will continue for several days.
Weather forecasters said that the very cold air mass is expected to descend east of Turkey and north of Syria, which means that it will take a semi-dry path away from the waters of the eastern Mediterranean basin, so it is not expected to be accompanied by sufficient amounts of moisture for widespread rain and snow to fall in the region.
Experts said that as a result of the axis in which the cold air mass is expected to descend, a low surface pressure system is expected to form north of Syria during the day on Sunday, accompanied by a rapid wave of rain affecting parts of Syria, Lebanon, Palestine and parts of Jordan. This rain will be in the form of snow on the very high heights of Lebanon as a result of the great cold accompanying the air mass, especially during the evening and night hours on Sunday.
The same weather forecasts indicate that a cold wave will rush towards the region starting from Monday, resulting from the expansion of the Siberian high towards the region, such that the weather is expected to turn very cold during the hours of Monday night and Tuesday morning and dawn in most of the Levant countries and the northern regions of Iraq, especially in the plains and high mountainous areas. It is expected that temperatures will approach zero degrees Celsius and even fall below that in some areas, especially the mountainous highlands and plains, resulting in a wave of widespread frost and freezing.
According to weather data, the very cold air mass will be accompanied by an influx of moisture on Monday towards the highlands of northern Iraq and the Kurdistan Region due to the axis of the mass’s advance, which will lead to a wave of heavy snow that is expected to include the Kurdistan Region, including the high mountainous heights in northern Iraq and the Iraqi-Iranian-Turkish border areas.
God willing, the effects of the Siberian cold wave are expected to reach the northern regions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where temperatures are expected to drop significantly in the Tabuk, Al-Jawf and Northern Borders regions, approaching zero degrees Celsius in those regions, especially on Monday/Tuesday night and Tuesday/Wednesday night, amidst extremely cold weather and risks of widespread frost formation in those regions.
The effects of the cold wave are also expected to affect parts of Hail and Hafar Al-Batin regions, with night temperatures expected to drop to below 10 degrees Celsius and cold weather expected.
