The aquarium affiliated with the Wildlife Conservation Society confirmed that the female sea lion did not breach the boundaries of the secondary park in any way, as he said:
“No staff or visitors were in danger, and the female sea lion remained within the zoo, never violating the secondary zoo perimeter.”
The Central Park Zoo is part of the largest global network of urban wildlife parks, which also includes the Bronx Zoo, Queens Zoo, Prospect Park Zoo and the New York Aquarium.
It is worth noting that on Friday morning, all five facilities of the Wildlife Conservation Society were temporarily closed as a result of severe weather conditions that caused record rainfall and declared a state of emergency in New York, resulting in flooding in multiple areas.
